System Administrator

An experienced System Administrator is required to join a small IT team in a
rapidly growing software engineering company in Manchester city centre. The
company develops innovative software for some of the biggest names in the
industry, on leading-edge hardware and operating systems. ? ?You will report
to the IT Manager and work closely with other members of the company to
support a large and varied collection of computers, networking and
telecommunications systems. ?While there are the normal Windows and Linux
systems, there are also a collection of more unusual machines and unusual
requirements. 

The responsibilities for the position include; configuring and installing
new services, troubleshooting and solving a wide range of technical
problems; to undertake development work to enhance our growing IT
infrastructure and to help solve day to day problems from other members of
staff.

The successful candidate will be expected to have excellent Linux knowledge
(including the ability to build software from source), excellent knowledge
of other Unixes (especially Solaris) and the ability to write in Perl. In
addition they will be expected to have a good understanding of networking
and security. Experience working with the Windows operating system would be
a benefit.

The salary is up to ?35,000 depending on knowledge and experience.
